My first week as your Los Angeles City Councilmember has been nothing short of exciting: I was sworn into office by Wyandotte Nation Chief Billy Friend along the LA River, then I took part in the Mayor’s inauguration ceremony on the steps of City Hall before a crowd of hundreds, and finally the best part was attending my first City Council Meeting as a representative of the 13th Council District.
I am excited to get to work -- we have a lot to do over the next four years.
I want to focus on improving quality of life in the 13th District. I want to create opportunities for more affordable housing, reform City policy to help mom-and-pop small businesses drive our local economy, and work with the entertainment industry to halt runaway production. I also plan on being a deficit hawk so that we can fully restore City services that every Angeleno deserves.
Over the next 90 days, I will be hard at work, and working hard to bring government to you. My staff and I plan to walk the district, neighborhood by neighborhood. This will not only provide you with an opportunity to meet face to face with my field deputies who will serve you, but it will also give us a chance to hear about some quality of life improvements you want to see happen in your community.
Folks, we are off to a great start. With your help, I see an even better City of Angels in our future.
